The Town of Bayfield is seeking letters of interest from interested volunteers to fill a vacancy on the Planning Commission.  Individuals interested in the position must reside within the Town of Bayfield corporate limits.  The volunteer position duties include land use regulation review and land use application recommendations.  The Planning Commission meets once a month on the second Tuesday at 7:00 pm.  Submit a letter of interest with a brief biography to Town of Bayfield in care of Town Manager; PO Box 80; Bayfield, CO  81122 or email ksickles@bayfieldgov.org on or before July 9, 2020.

The Town of Bayfield Board of Trustees has been inspired to revive the Bayfield Tree Board.  The Town is seeking energetic volunteers that enjoy discussing trees, encouraging an urban canopy, working with the community to restore sick trees to their glory, assisting new home owners with tree species recommendations, celebrating an Arbor Day, and at times recommending tree removal. Residency within the Town is not necessary.  Tree Board meetings will be scheduled later in the summer.  Anyone interested in serving as a volunteer on the Bayfield Tree Board may submit a letter of interest with a brief biography to Town of Bayfield in care of Mayor Tarkington; PO Box 80; Bayfield, CO  81122 or email atarkington@bayfieldgov.org on or before July 31, 2020.

Bayfield Transfer Station hours and operations

La Plata County offers residents a yard waste collection site located at the Bayfield Convenience Center at 4496 CR 223 that provides local residents disposal of their dry, brown yard waste such as tree trimmings, slash, pine needles, and tree trunks.  Please do not bring grass clippings or sagebrush. Consider combining trips by bringing your recyclables and dry, brown yard waste to drop off when you get your mulch. The accumulated yard waste is mulched and made available to County residents, free of charge. Residents must load their own mulch, but the County tries to offer two free mulch loading days in the spring and fall. For additional information, call (970) 382-6376 or visit the station website.
