Town of Bayfield

The Town of Bayfield is nestled amidst mountains and national forests on the Pine River in eastern La Plata County of southwest Colorado.

Bayfield has a rich western history dating back to the late 1800s and was primarily a ranching community. The town was laid out over 80 acres in 1898 as a trading and social center for farmers and ranchers. The town grew over the years and was incorporated August 18, 1906.

After more than 100 years, Bayfield still values a traditional neighborhood culture with a strong sense of community. Today, Bayfield continues to be a growing, thriving community with a population of approximately 2,700 residents.

The Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for a softball umpire.  Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator. Umpire assigned games for league and tournament play for the adult coed and men’s softball leagues on Monday and Thursday evenings.  Keep abreast of current trends, rule changes and other pertinent information. One (1) year of related experience preferred.  Position starts at $35.00/ game. Under the general direction of the Parks & Recreation Director and Town Manager.  The Senior Center Facility Monitor will assist with Pine River Senior Center Facility Use.  Pay range is between $13.00 and $18.00 depending on experience, with an additional $7 per hour at the time the employee is eligible to perform and assumes the “person in charge” of the retail food establishment license duties and responsibilities. The job is scheduled for approximately 10-20 hours per week and will include parts of the day Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday plus evenings and weekends when the facility is rented. The applicant must pass a background check.  In general it is preferred that the applicant reside 10 minutes or less from the Pine River Senior Center, 111 S West Street, Bayfield to accommodate facility openings, closings and facility uses.  A detailed job description is available at Town of Bayfield website or at Town Hall. Bayfield Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for a Parks Maintenance Worker position. 

Primary duties involve operation, maintenance, and repair of Town parks, facilities, and equipment.  Duties include, but are not limited to, mowing, field preparation, snow plowing, irrigation system operation, refuse management, tree and weed removal, facility upkeep, and equipment maintenance.  One (1) year of related experience preferred.  A valid driver’s license is required.  Position starts at $13.25 - $15.28/hr based on experience.
