Town utility customers are encouraged to come by Town Hall on Bayfield Yard Sale Day, June 5, 2021, from 8am to noon, to license their canine family members. Please bring proof of current vaccinations. Any pets registered with Town Hall through June 5 will be entered into a prize drawing.
Per Town Code, dogs residing in Town limits must have current rabies vaccinations and be licensed with the Town of Bayfield. Vaccinating and licensing dogs provides protection for owners, pets, and neighbors.
Benefits of licensing:
Found pets can be more readily returned home.
Law enforcement and animal control can quickly determine if a pet is at risk of contracting or transmitting rabies.
Cost of licensing is $5 per pet versus potential ticketing and impound fees of $180 or more.
Any pets who routinely visit Town parks or family are also welcome and encouraged to register in Town. Pets licensed in La Plata County may bring proof of registration and be added to Bayfield’s listing and entered into the prize drawing.
