Pet Licensing in Bayfield

Dog Licensing Event at Town Hall, June 5, 2021

Town residents and their canine family members are invited to come by Town Hall on Yard Sale Day, June 5, 2021, from 8am to noon, for Town's dog licensing, give-aways, and prizes. Please bring proof of current vaccinations. Each license is $5.00.

Pets on leashes are welcome, too! Any pets licensed with Town Hall through June 5th will be entered into a prize drawing.

Bayfield also encourages pet owners whose pets routinely visit Town parks or in-town friends and family to also license with the Town. Pets licensed with La Plata County may bring proof of registration and be added to Bayfield’s listing at no additional cost.

Benefits of licensing:

  • Found pets can be more readily returned home.
  • Law enforcement and animal control can quickly determine if a pet is at risk of contracting or transmitting rabies.
  • Cost of licensing is $5 per pet versus potential ticketing and impound fees of $180 or more.
